What is Systemic Coaching?

We all come from unique systems; family, school, workplace etc. Our first system is our family and our learnings here inform how we operate in the other systems.

Systemic coaching, informed by Bert Hellinger's Family Constellation work, examines how these patterns from our foundational family system influence our behaviour and patterns in both our lives and our work.

It aims to uncover and address hidden dynamics to enhance team performance and cohesion.

The work respect for the order of belonging, balance between giving and receiving, and acknowledging the role of each team member.

How it works

Before our first session

Set up a call with you to understand your reality as it is today.

This is a space to name your challenges and the obstacles you and your team face. Also acknowledging the wider constraints of the business and your current resources and opportunities. Nominate three team members for me to have a call with (30 min each). These should include 3 nominations: 1 neutral team member, 1 dissatisfied team member, 1 top performer.

Before the first workshop commences have another check in call with you post 3 team member calls to report back top level findings. These are based on themes and still respects the confidentiality of each conversation with the team.

Session One

This first workshop commences with time to acknowledge what is happening in the team and what is going on at the wider company currently. Your team will reflect on their own actions, (i.e. what is in their sphere of control and what is not). They discuss their challenges, any obstacles they face and the opportunities currently.

Three topics will emerge from this. These then will be themes for the upcoming workshops.

At the end of this workshop. I ensure there is a full commitment with your and your team to work on these 3 topics/themes and to improve each over the coming weeks and months.

Session Two

In this next in person workshop the team will pick the most critical issue and workshop this in a systemic format. This will include mapping with the team what is happening now. We will look at steps to better and what improvement is needed, with key actions.Commitment from everyone is key to this success. Is there a general consensus or outliers?

There will be a 30 min follow up call with you the leader post the first workshop. This is to ensure the next planned topic is still of worthy note and appropriate. Address any obstacles stopping the momentum and actions designed in this session.

Session Three

In Session 3, review session 2 and actions at the start of this workshop.

Move to the next critical issue for your team and workshop this as above. Different approaches can be used in a systemic format depending on the resonance and dynamics of the team.

We are starting to go deeper now as the trust has been established. Remaining open to see the impact of the work so far with you all. What is working, what can be improved?

Check-in Survey from the team as to progress, feedback and suggestions for improvement.  

Ensure there is a brief review of session 2 and 3 for actions and updates with the full team.

Session Four

Move onto last critical issue/obstacle for the team.

With data and deeper insights from the survey, I check where the team are now in relation to where they started. What is outstanding? What actions can be celebrated ? How can there be more of these? As the leader I continue to work with you on this positive momentum.

What would the team want less of? What are the team proud of?

Put a team agreement in place and a clear path on a way forward through the changes that have been discussed.

Ensure there is a completed team agreement in place as way of working. I will make recommendations with the you directly. This will include on how often they will review to ensure that progress is maintained and continues beyond the completed workshops.

Using the systemic method as a unique approach to coaching, your team will get a chance to work through the principles. This achieves restoration and balance within the system. Success follows for the team, reaching its full potential, along with strong results and renewed motivation.

Take time in the last session to celebrate the journey you’ve been on. The significant milestones and noteworthy achievements.
